Roy Tarvin has been named Realtor Emeritus by the National Association of Realtors, in recognition of his valuable and lasting contribution to the real estate profession and to the community. Tarvin founded Ridgewood’s Tarvin Realtors in 1971 and continues to own and operate the business today. The Realtor Emeritus designation recognizes not only Tarvin’s four decades of leadership and service to the real estate industry, but also his myriad civic activities and his personal commitment to the community of Ridgewood. Tarvin is a recipient of the prestigious Realtor of the Year Award by RealSource (formerly the Northwest Bergen Board of Realtors). A past president of the organization, he served for many years on its board of directors and continues to be an active member. He has chaired numerous committees, including the Professional Standards Committee and the Multiple Listings Committee. He also served as director of the New Jersey State Association of Realtors. A dedicated community leader, Tarvin was a founder and charter president of the Ridgewood A.M. Rotary Club. He is a past chairman of the Ridgewood High School Football Scholarship Committee, and recipient of the Buckley Award. Tarvin has served as a founder and president of the Ridgewood Sports Council, and as a founder and the first president of the Ridgewood Stablehands Breakfast Society. A graduate of Tufts University with a B. A. in business administration, Tarvin resides in Ridgewood with his wife, the former Debby Muster Monroe. He has five adult children and thirteen grandchildren, all of whom live in Ridgewood. The National Association of Realtors is America’s largest trade association, representing 1.3 million members, involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
