How To Turn Your Bathroom Into A Luxury Haven

Not all homes come with luxurious bathrooms with soaker tubs, steam showers, beautiful views, or smart technology. There are, however, many ways that you can work with a standard bathroom to transform it from a functional, but otherwise unimportant room in the house, into a luxurious personal haven that you can use to unwind, relax, and de-stress.

Step One: Organize What You Have

If you're like most people, you'll find it a little difficult to relax when everything around you in a mess of miscellaneous items and you don't know where to find anything. By simply organizing what you already have, you'll be taking the first step to creating the ultra-luxe bathroom oasis you deserve. A good place to start is by emptying out your drawers and medicine cabinet. Anything that you haven't used in six months, throw out. It's important to be diligent about this; one of the biggest mistakes pack-rats make is justifying keeping items on the off chance that it might come in handy one day. Focus on your regular schedule and use this to determine what will actually be used.

Step Two: Say Goodbye To Packaging

Are you the type of person who uses items by pulling them out of their packages until they're done? There's nothing actually wrong with this, except the fact that emptying items into your own organizers pushes you to make sure everything is allocated correctly. If you only keep cotton balls or face wipes in a given container, you're less likely to have random packages scattered in various parts of the room.

Step Three: Focus On Statement Pieces

This one's a throwback to our previous blog post about making your home in general feel spacious. We mentioned that large, statement pieces make a space feel cleaner and more luxurious when compared to small trinkets. The same applies in the bathroom — place the focus back on your tub and draw the eye away from lotions, potions, decorative towels, and boxes. Minimalism is key, and even simply purging and trading gaudy items for clean, understated ones can turn a dated bathroom into a contemporary one.

Step Four: Make An Investment

Even if you can't afford to completely overhaul your whole bathroom in favor of an indulgent 5-star hotel quality powder room, remodeling just one piece of the room can change it into an entirely new space. A standalone bathtub, raindrop shower, or modern sink basin will be sure to stand out.
