Each year Ridgewood Parks and Recreation organizes a range of fun, informative, and creative summer camps. Spanning a diverse range of age groups and a wide variety of topics, it's certain that your little ones are sure to find a Ridgewood summer camp that appeals to them.

Keep Kids Active

If your kids love to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, they might enjoy one of the many sports-focused summer programs that comes to town in the warmer months. Watch your child learn the rules of tennis and improve their swing each and every week. Introduce your child to a new sport that they've never tried before like lacrosse or cricket. The city offers some camps that feature a different sport each week, which gives young athletes a chance to try a broad variety of sports and decide which one they love the most. There is also a popular skateboarding program, in addition to an equestrian camp that teaches kids the basics of horse care and riding. Those who love to paddle around the pool, dive, or want to join a local swim team will also find a selection of programs offered at Graydon Pool.

Abrakadoodle's annual art camp is one of the highlights of the summer in the arts category. Since Abrakadoodle was founded in 2001, they have specialized in teaching art classes to children across the country. Kids who attend Abrakadoodle programs not only have fun making a broad assortment of crafts. They also develop their fine motor skills and confidence in their artistic creations. Most camps end in a small presentation where children will show off their projects.

Family-Friendly Activities

Ridgewood summer camps offer school-aged children plenty of opportunities to play, but Ridgewood Parks and Recreation has opportunities that entire families won't want to miss out on. From June through August, the Kasschau Memorial Shell offers free musical entertainment on Thursday and Tuesday evenings. The tradition began in 1958 and has been popular among residents since its initiation. Everything from acappella to rock n' roll can be found at the Band Shell on Veterans Field.
